New Yorkers are hitting the road and taking to the sky on Friday to begin the long holiday weekend.
Nationally, Triple A said nearly 43 million Americans will travel at least 50 miles from home for Memorial Day weekend. That is a record and it includes about 37 million drivers who will be on the road.Three million will be at the airports and another two million will travel by train, bus or boat.
The Port Authority is telling New Yorkers to give themselves extra time getting to JFK, LaGuardia and Newark Airports.
While people are escaping New York City for the holiday weekend, many will be coming to the Big Apple. Triple A said New York is one of the top travel destinations in the country.
