NJ Mayor Takes Heat Over Twitter Response

Brick Township, NJ Mayor John G. Ducey is taking heat from his constituents for not condemning an anti-Semitic tweet he received about Hasidic and Orthodox Jewish people using the beaches and parks in his community.

The mayor received a tweet that read "Can you please do something about our parks and beaches. They are being invaded by the Hasidic and Orthodox Jews and being ruined."

Instead of calling out the tweeter for his bias the mayor simply tweeted back, "Just call the police with any problems and they will send them out."

When asked why he didn't take a stronger tact with the racist tweeter the mayor said, "He didn't want to acknowledge the bigotry thereby giving the commenter the power he was seeking."

An email sent to the New York Post by Mayor Ducey said he apologized for any hurt I caused by not being careful with what I said.

Ducey was elected mayor of Brick Township in 2014.
