The New York Department of Corrections fired Deputy Commissioner Nichole Adams-Flores after an investigation concluded that she misused city resources.
The report on the investigation claimed that Adams-Flores used department employees to perform personal errands such as babysitting and dropping her children off at school.
Adams-Flores, who had been with the Corrections Department since 2016, said she believes that her firing was brought on by her December filing of a $5 million racial discrimination case that claimed white-male co-workers make up an unfair percentage of leadership roles in the Corrections Department.
Adams-Flores attorney Rocco Avallone said, "It's our belief that this is retaliation for the federal suit."
According to an article published in the New York Post, Adams-Flores reportedly earned $169,000 per year as a Deputy Commissioner.
