Police Escort Masked Intruder From Gracie Mansion

Officers from the Emergency Service Unit were called to Gracie Mansion this morning to capture a raccoon that had taken up residence in the mayor's backyard patio set.

A police source told the New York Post that the raccoon was "healthy and huge" when they placed the varmint in a crate for transport to the Animal Care Center.

The officer who caged the animal said the critter gave him the "1000 mile stare and growled" as he carefully negotiated the raccoon into surrendering.

6 rabid raccoons have been captured since January in Staten Island, the Bronx, and Inwood Hill Park.
