A Brooklyn Family Suffers a Double Dose Of Sorrow

A Clinton Hill family was dealt a second dose of sorrow yesterday when William Ortiz was shot and left for dead at the doorstep of his mother's home just a year and a half after his brother Terrell Ortiz was shot dead.  The 30-year-old was going to see his mother to talk about how to pay for his brother's tombstone.

Ortiz family member Kim Brown told the New York Daily News that William Ortiz collapsed in front of his mother's 13th-floor apartment door after crawling down the hallway.

William and Terrell's sister Taniari said, "It's been 19 months since we lost our brother in the same way, to gun violence."  Taniari added, "William was here with us today discussing how we were going to pay for the tombstone for Terrill."

Neighbors have started a shrine for the murdered man placing votive candles in the apartment buildings lobby.

William Ortiz was pronounce dead after arriving at Kings County Hospital.

The police are investigating the murder.
