The suspect in a shooting and hostage situation at a New Jersey UPS facility is dead. The suspect, who has been identified police as Williams Owens, was pronounced dead at the scene after police reportedly opened fire on him.
As for what happened. Witnesses say Owens walked into the UPS warehouse in Logan Township and fired multiple shots into the ceiling. He then took two women hostage – one of whom was said to be his ex-girlfriend. The two women were not hurt.
As for Owens, his family says they’re shocked, but it seems he wasn’t a stranger to police. “Nobody in our family seen it coming,” a woman who identified herself as Owens’ niece of Owens told reporters. “It came out of nowhere. This isn’t my uncle. He was never like this." Maybe to them, but back in April of 2017? He was cited for violating a domestic violence order – and sentenced to three years probation.
