There will be a final farewell today for firefighter Steven Pollard.
A funeral is being held for the 30-year-old, who died Sunday night while responding to a car accident in Brooklyn. Services are being held at Good Shepherd Church in Marine Park.
Fire Commissioner Daniel Nigro said the FDNY would continue supporting the Pollard family
“We will always be with them. We say we’ll never forget - we really mean it - and this family will always be a part of our family and I hope that knowledge comforts them and I believe it does,” Nigro said.
Two men had been injured in a car accident on the Belt Parkway. Pollard was crossing the road to help them when he fell 52 feet from the Mill Basin Bridge.
“We’re just going to get through this together as a family and we’re going to try to be supportive of the Pollard family. We’ll always be there for the Pollard family,” FDNY Captain James Quinn said.
Pollard belonged to Ladder Company 170. His father Raymond Pollard is a retired firefighter and his brother Raymond Jr. is a firefighter with Ladder Company 114.
