The Safest Airlines For 2019

While for the most part flying is pretty safe, some of us still get overly worried about traveling in the sky. It’s totally reasonable to be concerned about an airline’s safety record, and a new report reveals which airlines are the safest ones out there.  But if you want the safest, you’ll have to travel to Australia. 

AirlineRatings.com, the worlds only safety and product rating website for airlines, has just come out with their list of the Top 20 Safest Airlines for 2019 and once again Qantas is considered the safest airline out there. The site’s Editor-in-Chief Geoffrey Thomas notes Quantas has “been the lead airline in virtually every major operational safety advancement over the past 60 years and has not had a fatality in the jet era.”

The Top 20 Safest Airlines include (in alphabetical order):

  • Air New Zealand
  • Alaska Airlines
  • All Nippon Airways
  • American Airlines
  • Austrian Airlines
  • British Airways
  • Cathay Pacific Airways
  • Emirates
  • EVA Air
  • Finnair
  • Hawaiian Airlines
  • KLM
  • Lufthansa
  • Qantas
  • Qatar Airways
  • Scandinavian Airline System
  • Singapore Airlines
  • Swiss
  • United Airlines
  • Virgin group of airlines (Atlantic and Australia).

Of course when you have the best, you also want to know the worst, and the site also revealed the lowest ranked airlines when it comes to safety. They include:

  • Ariana Afghan Airlines
  • Bluewing Airlines
  • Kam Air
  • Tara Air
  • Trigana Air Service
