NJ Transit has completed its installation of Positive Train Control, which will help prevent accidents on the railroad.
“We promised the people of New Jersey that we would start making it right at NJ Transit and this achievement shows we are doing just that,” Governor Phil Murphy said.
Positive Train Control had to be installed by the end of the year. In recent weeks, NJ Transit reduced some service to ensure it would get done.
“Make no mistake. There’s still a lot of work left to do on PTC, but this is a major step forward as we continue to rebuild our mass transit system,” Murphy said.
The governor said now that work is done, it should also lead to fewer problems on the railroad.
