New LaGuardia Concourse to Open on Saturday

Governor Andrew Cuomo has announced the latest milestone in the redevelopment of LaGuardia Airport.

A brand new concourse will open on Saturday, featuring a number of retail and dining options for travelers.

"The opening of the first new concourse and gates at Terminal B marks another significant milestone in the transformation of LaGuardia Airport into a modern, global gateway that is worthy of the State of New York," Governor Cuomo said.

The governor said the $8 billion project will transform LaGuardia into a 21st century airport.  It will feature a world-class passenger experience with modern amenities and state-of-the-art architecture.

"While leaders in Washington only talk about investing in infrastructure, in New York we are actually getting it done, and now travelers from across the world will start to see and experience a whole new LaGuardia," Cuomo said.

The brand new concourse will feature 55-foot ceilings and floor-to-ceiling windows that will open up the structure to natural light.  Charging stations will be available in the seating areas and free Wi-Fi access will be provided to travelers.

"For too long, LaGuardia Airport has offered its passengers a substandard experience, but this weekend's opening of the first new concourse shows the Port Authority is committed to improving the passenger experience with world-class facilities that turn's Governor Cuomo's vision into a beautiful reality,” Port Authority Executive Director Rick Cotton said.
