Mets Blast Their Way Past The Yankees 8-5!

  • Aces wild as Jacob deGrom faced Luis Severino in the finale of the Subway Series that was postponed from July.
  • Amed Rosario opened the game with a solo leadoff home run, his first leadoff HR of his brief career, and it was quickly 1-0 Mets.
  • Jeff McNeil added an RBI single and deGrom had a 2-0 lead to work with before throwing his first pitch.
  • Yankees got on the board in the bottom of the third when a double play ball by Stanton was thrown away and a run scored, then a base hit by Aaron Hicks tied the game at 2.
  • It didn’t stay tied long, as Jose Bautista popped a Yankee Stadium home run into the right field porch and the Mets led 4-2 in the 4th.
  • Yankees got one back in the bottom of the 5th when Didi Gregorious singled in a run.  4-3 Mets after 5.
  • Mets just keep pushing it back, Todd Frazier hit a solo HR to give the Mets back their two run cushion, 5-3 heading to the bottom of the 6th.
  • Top 7, More long balls and Nimmo and Conforto went back to back with solo dingers, and the Mets opened up a 7-3 lead.
  • Bottom 7, Jacob deGrom got two outs and was done after that with a solid start, 6 & 2/3 innings, 3 runs, only 2 earned, and he struck out 12 Yankees.
  • Yankees crept closer in the bottom of the 8th , Miguel Andujar slugged a two run HR to close within two runs, 7-5 Mets after 8 innings
  • Mets got one more in the 9th with an RBI groundout and Robert Gsellman came on to lock the game down, and the Mets won 8-5 to win the Yankee Stadium portion of the Subway series 2 games to 1 and finish 3-3 against the Bombers for the season.
  • The Mets are back on the road as they head to Baltimore for a short two game tilt vs. the Orioles. First pitch at Camden Yards 7:05PM, Mets on Deck at 6:05.
