Grand Central Terminal was a mob scene Tuesday evening after thunderstorms caused Metro-North to suspend service during the height of rush hour.
Officials began shutting down service on the Hudson Line before 5 p.m., following downed trees and weather-related issues. The agency was concerned for passenger safety. By 5:30 p.m. authorities announced service on three of the lines would be suspended until the storm was moved through the area.
Subsequently, the MTA advised customers to avoid Grand Central Terminal "until further notice."
Early Wednesday the National Weather Service and New York State urged New Yorkers to take caution this afternoon due to heavy wind gusts that could reach 65 miles per hour.
Tornadoes were possible in New Jersey, Connecticut and upstate New York.
Passengers at GCT aired their complaints and concerns via social media.
