- Before the game Mickey Callaway & The Mets announced that Jacob deGrom will miss his next start and will be put on the DL retroactive to his last start. He will be eligible to return on Sunday and it is hoped he will make that start. This was done as an abundance of caution.
- Noah Syndergaard got the start for the Mets who desperately needed a win to end this homestand, where they hadn’t won a game and hadn’t even led in a game during that stretch
- Mets finally got their first lead of the series in the bottom of the first when Asdrubal Cabrera smacked an RBI Single and Todd Frazier hit a sac fly and Syndergaard was given a 2-0 lead heading to the hill in the second.
- Yoenis Cespedes, it was announced, left the game with right hip tightness after the inning and was replaced by Brandon Nimmo.
- Ian Desmond got one run back in the top of the second with a solo home run and it was 2-1 Mets.
- Syndergaard labored in the third. Two straight singles and a walk and the bases were loaded, no one out. He walked Parra to force a run in, but then struck out Story, then got a double play ball and the game remained tied.
- Noah was finished after 6 innings of two run ball, he wasn’t dominant, but he did the job.
- Jerry Blevins, on his sock day give away, got his two men in the 7th and then AJ Ramos got his man, and the game remained a 2-2 tie.
- In the 8th, Hansel Robles came on, gave up a single, but Para was thrown out after a review, while trying to stretch a single into a double.
- Robles then struck out Trevor Story, but with two outs, Ian Desmond hit his second homer of the game and the Rockies had their first lead of the game 3-2.
- Wilmer Flores reached with one out in the 9th, Rockies closer Adam Ottavino struckout Jay Bruce, then Pinch Hitter Adrian Gonzalez singled and there were two on with two out.
- Tomas Nido struck out looking and the 6 game winless homestand came to and end. Final Score 3-2 Rockies.
- Mets fly off to Cincinnati to take on the Reds, Monday night. P.J.
