More winter weather is in the forecast for the Tri-State area Tuesday.
The coming storm will be the third to bring snow to the Northeast in two-and-a-half weeks.
A winter storm warning is in effect for central and eastern Long Island from midnight through 6 p.m. Tuesday. A winter weather advisory is in effect midnight through noon Tuesday in New York City and all of Long Island.
The weather system will move into the area as rain Monday evening, forecasters say, then changing to snow overnight, with about an inch falling by the morning.
Snow will continue through Tuesday morning in the city, tapering off in the afternoon, leaving another 1 to 3 inches of accumulation.
Winds near the city will be far less severe than the previous two storms, both nor'easters, that hit the region in previous weeks.
All told, the city should get 2 to 4 inches, with less accumulation to the west.
Points east such as Nassau to Montauk and coastal Connecticut could get 5 to 7 inches.
Tuesday night, we'll see some lingering flurries or snow showers.
New England is expecting to get the brunt of the storm with near-blizzard conditions that could drop up to 2 feet of snow.
Upstate New York will also likely see heavy snow.
Thousands of people are still without power from the last go round. The last storm hit the region with wet, heavy snow and high winds that knocked down trees and toppled power lines.
