More than 300,000 people in the Tri-State area are without power following Winter Storm Quinn.
Some parts of the area received more than 20 inches of snow, although the city escaped the brunt of the record snowfall.
Winter Storm Quinn was the second nor'easter to strike the area in five days. When it arrived, some 90,000 residents were still out of power due to the previous storm.
Most of the residents without power were in northern New Jersey. JCP&L reported more than 133,000 customers out of service Thursday morning, while PSE&G New Jersey reported 85,000 residents without power.
Con Edison reported more than 28,000 residents without power Thursday morning. PSE&G Long Island reported nearly 20,000 in the dark. NYSEG reported more than 38,000 customers out of power.
Travel remains a challenge for residents, as well.
While NJ Transit bus service had resumed Thursday morning, several NJ Transit train lines and Metro North lines were suspended. Amtak service between New York and Boston was also suspended for most of the morning.
Light rain Tuesday evening turned to snow early Wednesday as Winter Storm Quinn arrived. Snow was heavy at times Wednesday afternoon with temperatures in the low 30s. The result was a heavy, wet snow accompanied by wind gusts of up to 40 miles per hour.
