Mets 8, Phillies 2! Little League Classic Victory!

  • A special night! The Mets played the Phillies in the 2018 Little League Classic at a minor league ballpark in Williamsport, PA, the home of the Little League World Series!
  • Todd Frazier continued his success in Williamsport, albeit 20 years later, with a hit in his first at bat in the second!
  • Jose Bautista singled in Frazier in the top of the first, 1-0 Mets
  • Kevin Plewecki added an RBI single to make it 2-0.
  • Amed Rosario singled in two more and the Mets had a 4-0 lead in the top of the second.
  • Mets loaded the bases with two out in the 4th when Jeff McNeil singled in two runs but was thrown out at second to end the inning, but the Mets had a 6-0 lead!
  • Mets added another run in the 6th on an Amed Rosario RBI single, 7-0 Mets.
  • Vargas made it into the 6th, but finally broke when he gave up a two run HR to Carlos Santana and his night was done, but he did his job and left with the Mets leading 7-2.
  • Mets added a run in the 8th to make it 8-2, which would prove to be the final score 8-2.
  • The Mets come home to take on the San Francisco Giants on Monday Night, the first of 4 against them and the start of a 7 game Homestand. First Pitch 7:10, Mets on Deck at 6:05
