Mets Comeback Falls Short, 10-8 Rockies

  • Jason Vargas got the start in Colorado with the Mets trying to win four in a row after a rain delay of 1:20
  • Mets manufactured a run in the first as Nimmo and Cabrera hit back to back singles and then back to back fly ball outs moved Nimmo to third then home and the Mets had a 1-0 lead.
  • Trevor Story and Ian Desmond each hit RBI Singles in the bottom of the first and the Rockies took the lead 2-1 after one
  • Mets tied it right back on with an RBI single in the second and it was knotted at 2-2.
  • Vargas fell apart in the third. Nelson Arenado Hit a two run Home Run, then Trevor Story and Ian Desmond as well. Back to Back to Back home runs and the Rockies were up 6-2 and Vargas’ night was
  • Noel Curvas and German Marquez each had RBI singles and it was 8-2 New York.
  • The line on Vargas -  just 2.1 innings, 9 hits and 7 runs scored against him.
  • Carlos Gonzalez stroked a solo HR off of Hansel Robles in the 4th and it was 9-2 Colorado
  • Mets got a couple back in the top of the fifth, Asdrubal Cabrera with an RBI single and Michael Conforto stroked an RBI Sac Fly to cut the lead to 9-4 in the top of the 5th.
  • Nolan Arenado knocked in an RBI single in the bottom of the 5th
  • Top 7, Jose Bautista knocked in a run with an RBI single and it was a 10-5 game.
  • Mets Loaded the bases, and scored the 6th run on a passed ball, but left two men in scoring position and it was 10-6, and the last great chance for a Mets comeback went by the wayside.
