Mets drop their second straight to the Cubs 7-4

The Mets wasted a fantastic start by Zack Wheeler as the bullpen once again could not get it done and the Cubs came from behind to win 7-4.

Wheeler was fantastic through 6 innings as he did not allow a run and was given a 2 run lead. In the bottom of the third inning Brandon Nimmo hit his 7th homer of the year to give the Mets the advantage. However the wheels came off for Wheeler in the 7th as he allowed 2 singles to put runners on the corners with no outs. Paul Sewald came in to try and stop the bleeding but he did not. Sewald allowed 3 runs including an RBI double from Ben Zobrist. In the 8th inning Sewald allowed a 3 run home run to Kyle Schwarber which pretty much put the game out of reach for the Mets.

Adrian Gonzalez did hit a 2 RBI Single in the bottom of the 8th to bring New York within 2. However Ian Happ would add one more for the Cubs in the 9th to make the final score 7-4.

The Mets will try to get back on track tomorrow night at 7:10 against the Cubs once again. WOR's coverage begins at 6:05 with Pete McCarthy and 'Mets On Deck.'
