Mets come from behind to beat Arizona 5-4

posted by Mark Weiner -

The Mets were down 4-2 after 4 innings but were able to come all the way back to tie the game in the 8th inning, then win in the bottom of the 9th.

Steven Matz started for the Mets and began the game well allowing just 1 run through the first 3 innings. However in the 4th inning he allowed a solo Home Run to Paul Goldschmidt then later on a 2 run Homer by John Ryan Murphy put Arizona up 4-2.

The game would stay that way until the bottom of the 8th when Devin Mesoraco hit a 2 run Home Run to left field, tying the game at 4.

In the bottom of the 9th, Brandon Nimmo led off the inning with a double. Asdrubal Cabrera would then bunt for a base hit which moved Nimmo to third base, allowing Wilmer Flores to gain an RBI on a sac fly which scored Nimmo and won the Mets their second consecutive game.

In case you missed it, here's Wayne Randazzo speaking to Brandon Nimmo after the game.

The Mets will try to sweep the series from Arizona tomorrow afternoon at 1:10. Our coverage starts with Mets On Deck with Pete McCarthy at 12:05.
