Mets Bats Silent in Extra Inning 3-1 Loss to the Braves

posted by Joseph Curci -

The Mets fell to the Braves 3-1 tonight in twelve innings. Jacob deGrom squared off against former Mets pitcher Bartolo Colon and the two combined for an old-school pitchers duel.

deGrom tossed six scoreless innings. He struck out six and allowed just two hits. Colon matched him allowing a solo home run to Jay Bruce and one other hit while striking out six over six as well.

The Braves would tie the game in the seventh thanks to an RBI double from Adonis Garcia. The game would remain tied at 1 run apiece until the top of the twelfth when Matt Kemp gave the Braves a 3-1 lead on a 2-run double.

The Mets fall to (1-1) and will send Matt Harvey to the mound for his 2017 debut when they wrap up their 3-game series with Atlanta at 7:10 pm. Be sure to join WOR's Pete McCarthy at 6:05 pm for 'Mets on Deck'.
