710 WOR ANNOUNCES 2017 METS SPRING TRAINING BROADCAST SCHEDULE
New York, New York – February 21, 2017 - The New York Mets flagship radio station, 710 WOR-AM, announced their 2017 Spring Training broadcast schedule today. The 50,000-watt iHeart Media owned station will broadcast 15 games beginning on Friday, February 24th when the Mets take on the Boston Red Sox.
Howie Rose & Josh Lewin will call the action as they return to the booth in the fourth year of WOR’s partnership with the Mets. "The Mets have a great opportunity in 2017. They will attempt to qualify for the post season for the third straight year, something that has not been accomplished in franchise history. With a tremendously talented group of starting pitchers presumably healthy again, we're all excited to get back on the air to bring you the play by play for what has the chance to become a historic season for the New York Mets,” said Rose. “We hope you will join us for spring training, every regular season game, and hopefully a long, successful post season,” added Rose.
Almost half of the broadcast schedule will feature NL East opponents including three games against the rival Washington Nationals. Mets broadcaster Josh Lewin is excited to get going, "There's nothing sweeter than the sounds of summer on the radio while it's still the middle of winter. No one captures that magic like Howie does and it's such a thrill to be working with him and Wayne again.” WOR’s Pre and Post-game host, Wayne Randazzo, will also call some of the action along with Rose & Lewin this upcoming spring.
The Mets will open up the regular season on Monday April 3rd as they host the Atlanta Braves at Citi Field. For additional WOR-Mets coverage fans can tune into the ‘Sports Zone’ with Pete McCarthy weeknights from 6-9pm and hear interviews with some of their favorite players weekday mornings from 6-10am with “Len Berman & Todd Schnitt in the Morning”
