A few weeks ago a number of major names in the tech industry started to warn the public about the dangers of the rapid rate in which AI is progressing. Some of these executives even went as far as to ask Donald Trump and Congress to put regulations in place to protect against a doomsday scenario.
“This agreement is all about letting these companies do what they do best, but also saying we understand there are risks, we understand that there are downsides to this and we need you to be looking out for those,” DeMuro told hosts Sliwa and Mendte. “I think that this is probably an appropriate way to do this right now because no one really knows, all the day doom sayers, all the doom and gloom, we don’t really know.”]
DeMuro believes that despite the regulations, that doesn’t stop other countries from jumping us in this major tech developments, “what we do know is that this is a race and just because the US slows down doesn’t mean anyone else will slow down.”
