The New York Knicks have made it back to the NBA Finals for the first time since 1999, and are looking for their first Championship victory since 1973. Despite the team being a bottom dweller and league laughing stock for many years in recent times, the fans have always showed up and packed out MSG, and now that they are good again the fans are more excited than ever. Natalie Migliore, WOR Reporter, hit the streets of New York City to talk with Knicks fans about their excitement and their confidence levels before game 1 tonight.
“There’s a lot of heart, we’re playing like bulldogs, we’re playing like we want it all… and its fate its a rematch; Spurs and Knicks rematch and this time the cards are going to be different,” one person told Migliore. “New York baby, New York all the way; four more, it’s a sweep, we’re bringing the brooms out,” another fan told Migliore.
One fan isn’t shocked by the NYPD order shutting down certain watch parties around the city: “This is New York, and we haven’t been here since 1999 in the NBA Finals and Knicks fans are excited; it’s really hard to contain the excitement if you really are a Knicks fan.”
