Rob Astorino: Why Does Rose DeLauro Want Lee Zeldin To Drink Bug Killer?

The speech King Charles gave to a joint session of Congress dominated the headlines on Tuesday. Lost in the sauce, however, was the exchange between Environmental Protection Agency Chairman Lee Zeldin and Connecticut 3rd District Congresswoman Rose DeLauro just one day earlier. Zeldin appeared at a Congressional hearing, where DeLauro suggested the EPA’s agenda “reads like a climate change denier’s manifesto”. When Zeldin cited a Supreme Court case to illustrate the EPA’s stand on climate change, DeLauro dismissed the case, saying, “I don’t need to listen to this B.S.”, then later, when things seemed to calm down, DeLauro suddenly suggested Zeldin should drink bug killer and kill himself.

Former Westchester County Executive Rob Astorino is the host of the eponymous “The Rob Astorino Show,” heard Saturdays at 4pm on WOR. He appeared on 710 WOR’s Curtis Sliwa and Larry Mendte in the Morning program with his reaction to the stunning answers that DeLauro had for Zeldin.

Astorino expressed his disbelief at the conduct that passed for “professional” when DeLauro responded to Zeldin: “She shouldn’t be allowed out of the house because she is certifiable, and she proves it every time she opens her mouth. This isn’t the first time she did something like that, you know; this happened to be against Lee Zeldin, but she does this all the time. I mean, she is a ranting, raving, crazy lady. I hate to say this [but] she’s a crazy old lady. And yet, she represents part of Connecticut in Congress, and she votes and she has power, and that’s where the Democratic Party is today. She represents the Democratic Party to a T.”

Astorino had nothing but high praise for Zeldin’s ability to stay calm and collected under fire: “He’s so cool; I mean, he knows his stuff. And so, when he’s sitting there in that committee chair, and she’s just throwing garbage at him, ignorant garbage, and he’s citing the law- and a major Supreme Court decision, by the way, that she has no clue about… and so she throws out the, you know, ‘You should drink weed killer and kill yourself’ (quip). When in doubt, call for them to die.”
