Former FBI Director James Comey and New York Attorney General Letitia James have been two of the most prominent figures working against Donald Trump over the years, but each got caught up in their own legal troubles in the last year. Comey was charged with making a false statement to Congress, and James was charged with bank fraud, but a federal judge has dismissed the cases against both after finding the prosecutor, Lindsay Halligan, was unlawfully appointed. Jon Decker, WOR White House correspondent, spoke about how the Trump administration may still be able to take on two of his biggest opponents.

“They have two options; one is to appeal this case… they could try their luck with their argument at the appellate court, and if they lose there, they could appeal to the U.S. Supreme Court,” Decker told host Larry Mendte. “The other option is what the judge set forth, and that is simply name someone else to handle the duties of being the Chief Prosecutor of the eastern district of Virginia.”

Decker also believes that there is a path forward for the original prosecutor to continue with the case: “If [Donald Trump] wants [Lindsey Halligan] to be the U.S. Attorney, then she should go through the process like every other U.S. Attorney and that is to be confirmed by the U.S. Senate.”
