As the summer officially gets started, a Westchester classic has been renovated and opened for business to provide entertainment all season. Westchester County recently took over running Playland Park in Rye, NY again and have announced special holiday hours this week and pricing to join in on the fun. The park will be open from Wednesday, July 2 through Sunday, July 6. The park will open at 12 noon each day and close at 9 p.m. on July 2, 3 and 6, and will close at 10 p.m. on July 4 and 5. It is free to get into the park, $10 to park and $15 will get you a wristband that gives you access to every ride in the park for the entire day. Ken Jenkins, Westchester County Executive, spoke with Mendte in the Morning about the park and what they have done to get it ready.
“We’ve invested from Westchester County over $150 million over the past three years into the park,” Jenkins told host Larry Mendte. “We’re moving forward and getting things going so it’s exciting.”
Jenkins also mentioned the special fireworks displays the park will be hosting: “We brought back the fireworks; that’s starting on Friday… so 4th of July we have the fireworks and then every Friday that tradition will continue [through August 29th].”
