Another protest took place on the campus of Columbia University Wednesday afternoon as pro-Palestinian protesters made their way into and took over part of the on-campus library. The NYPD was eventually called onto campus to break up the demonstration and nearly 100 protesters were arrested. Natalie Migliore, WOR Reporter, went out to Columbia University and spoke with some students who are trying to manage their school work while the protests are going on.
“We talk about it in our classes, we express our frustrations,” one student told Migliore. Another student is unhappy with how things unfolded. “I’m just like really tired with all of this; I mean it’s finals week and then NYPD coming onto the campus actually made everything worse.”
One NYC resident who lives near the campus is unsure how effective the protests have been: “I think they’re getting their point across; I just feel like nothing is changing so I don’t know what the right approach is at this point.”
