U.S. border czar Tom Homan is fuming after hearing that New York City turned ICE officials away when agents showed up at an NYPD stationhouse to talk to several migrant teens who had been arrested for trying to attack NYPD officers. The police initially arrested three pint-sized attackers, one of them as young as 12; however, the kids were all let go after the incident was deemed “a civil case”. Making matters worse, the news of their release came as NYPD commissioner Jessica Tisch defended the existence of an NYPD gang database, which members of the City Council want to see abolished.
New York City Councilwoman Vickie Paladino (R-19th) is among those upset at the news the boys were let go. She appeared on 710 WOR’s Mendte in the Morning program to vent her frustration at city officials allowing lax catch-and-release standards in the first place.
Paladino told host Larry Mendte that the problem began when the kids first set foot on this side of the border: “These kids are recruited at the border, so when all these kids flooded the border, who was picking them up? Oh, their aunts and their uncles- no! We knew back then it was gang members saying I’m their aunt, I’m their uncle, I’m their mother, I’m their sister- who cares, alright! In plain English, who cares. These are kids that are 11, 12 years old. They’re getting away with this now because… at that age, especially, they’re just let go. They just are allowed to go free. It’s not like being 18, where they hold you for two hours. These kids are let go, and that’s it.”
Paladino added that she believes people who back migrant criminals are doing it to ruin New York City in general and one person in particular: “We need the feds to come in here and we need [Homan] to, as he says, triple down and bring them on in, and these kids- we’re done. We’re so done, and what’s going to happen here [is] the city will suffer financially, the state will suffer financially. If they would just- they’ve got to stop this going to war with Donald Trump. They’ve got to stop this!”
