On Thursday afternoon a tour helicopter broke apart and crashed into the Hudson River tragically killing all six occupants of the vehicle. Investigations are still ongoing to figure out what happened to cause this crash. John Nance, ABC World News aviation analyst, spoke with Mendte in the Morning about the helicopter and the confusion surrounding the accident.
“It was at one time considered the safest single engine aircraft of any sort in the world,” Nance told guest host Ken Rosato. “It is a workhorse helicopter, there’s no question about it, and they just do not come apart in the air with any degree of regularity.”
Nance believes that solving the mystery of what happened won’t be easy: “The National Transportation Safety Board is going to have quite a bit of work cut out for them as they try to figure out exactly what broke and how.”
