Jay Bruce is reportedly coming back to the New York Mets, and play-by-play announcer Howie Rose says this was always in the team’s plans.
The Mets traded Bruce to Cleveland last season, but Rose told WOR’s “Len Berman in the Morning” the organization hoped he would return when he became a free agent.
“They told Jay Bruce, I say they meaning the upper echelon and management, that when they traded him last year they were going to try to bring him back,” Rose said.
Bruce is expected to sign a 3-year deal worth $39 million. Rose said he “absolutely” expects more moves.
“They’re going to make moves. They’re looking for an infielder,” Rose said.
