Pickleball, the sports craze that has invaded parks and playgrounds across America, gets its turn on ESPN on April 2nd, as four tennis all-time greats- John McEnroe, Andre Agassi, Michael Chang and Andy Roddick- play in a pickleball tournament. ESPN tennis commentator Patrick McEnroe held court on 710 WOR’s Len Berman and Michael Riedel in the Morning program to discuss the game’s appeal.

“I’m just interested in seeing what it looks like,” McEnroe told Berman and Riedel, “but it’ll be cool to watch four of the greatest tennis players that ever played pick up the pickleball paddle and see what they got. I’m interested to hear what the pickleball experts actually think of the tennis players coming in and playing pickleball.”

The four legends will be competing Sunday at the Hard Rock Live in Hollywood, Florida for a piece of a $1 million prize to help various charities. McEnroe touched upon the organization his brother hopes to benefit. “Each of the guys has their own charity. We have ours at our tennis academy at Randall’s Island… the Johnny Mac Tennis Project, that helps give scholarships to kids that normally couldn’t afford it.”
