“Hair” Producer James Rado Dead At The Age Of 90


Broadway producer James Rado, the co-creator of the hit musical “Hair” has died.

The show opened at the Biltmore Theatre in 1968 and became a Broadway sensation. It ran for 1,750 performances and led to a 1979 film adaptation.

The original cast recording won a Grammy Award and hit number one on the Billboard chart. It featured a number of songs that became hits for other artists, including “Hair” and “Aquarius/Let the Sunshine In.”

A 2009 revival of the show won a Tony Award.

Rado was 90 years old.
