It’s the first day of school in New York City.
All one million students will be back in the classroom on Monday, with no option for remote learning. That’s the first time all students, teachers and staff will be in-person since the start of the pandemic in March 2020.
Some parents and teachers have protested the return to the classroom and have called for remote learning to be made available through the rest of 2021. However, Mayor Bill de Blasio says safety measures have been put in place and kids need to be back in class.
Teachers are required to be vaccinated and must have their first dose by September 27th. There’s no requirement for students.
