Murphy: NJ Seeing Post-Holiday Surge

New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy says the state is seeing a surge in coronavirus cases that stem from the holiday season.

“This is what we were afraid of: people letting their guard down over Christmas and New Year's and spreading the virus among their families and friends,” Murphy said.

There were more than 5,000 new positive tests reported on Monday and an additional 51 deaths.

“This is likely from indoor gatherings where neither social distancing nor wearing a face mask were adhered to,” Murphy said.
