Second New Yorker Dies Because of Vaping

A man from Manhattan in his 30’s has died because of a vaping-related illness.

Not much is known about the man, except that he had a history of using e-cigarettes and vape products.Governor Andrew Cuomo promised a robust investigation and called on the federal government to act.

“Make no mistake: this is a public health crisis and until our 'leaders' in Washington do something to stop it, more lives will be lost," Cuomo said.

Mayor Bill de Blasio called vaping “dangerous.” He suggested higher taxes on vaping products to reduce the number of people using them.

“We certainly learned from the example of Tobacco the things that did work, making it harder and harder to hook young children, making it more expensive which literally led, especially to a lot of young people never getting the habit to begin with because they couldn’t afford it,” de Blasio said.
