Another day, another set of charges against attorney Michael Avenatti. Make that TWO. This time? Avenatti is accused of misappropriating money that was to be paid to porn star and his former client Stormy Daniels. Specifically, he's accused of skimming $300-thousand from Daniels in her book deal.
As you’ll recall, Avenatti represented Daniels in her defamation lawsuit against President Trump and Michael Cohen for hush money payments. According to the indictment, he sent a fraudulent letter purporting to contain Daniels’ signature instructing her book agent to send payments to his bank account rather than hers. Docs accuse Avenatti of stealing from Daniels to maintain his extravagant lifestyle, such as making a monthly car payment on a Ferrari.
The charges were in Manhattan, where Avenatti is already accused of extortion in a case involving Nike. Adding insult to Avenatti’s misery, he was also separately indicted on extortion charges, for his alleged attempt to extract more than 20-million-dollars from Nike. Speaking via Twitter, Avenatti maintains that he will be "fully exonerated.”
