ABC and Jimmy Kimmel are taking a big risk tonight and it will be the buzz of social media.
“ Live in Front of a Studio Audience: Norman Lear’s All in the Family and The Jeffersons” airs tonight and features a “who’s who” cast. Woody Harrelson takes on Archie Bunker, with the stellar cast of Marisa Tomei (as Edith Bunker), Ellie Kemper and Ike Barinholtz (Gloria and Mike “Meathead” Stivic), Jamie Foxx and Wanda Sykes (George and Louise Jefferson), Will Ferrell and the recently announced Kerry Washington (Tom and Helen Willis), Justina Machado (Florence Johnston), Sean Hayes (Mr. Lorenzo), Anthony Anderson(Uncle Henry), Stephen Tobolowsky (Mr. Bentley), Jovan Adepo and Amber Stevens West (Lionel and Jenny Willis Jefferson), and Jackée Harry.
Creator Norman Lear hosts the event that covers two classic episodes from the iconic shows. The sets are exact replicas right down to Archie’s brown chair.
The question that will be asked tonight… as even Lear and the cast wonder… will this broadcast start a conversation or make the divide deeper? Lear seems to think it will help, which is why they are going for it!
