In what’s surely a surprise to no one, the calls for impeachment are rising from the left side of the aisle. First up? Massachusetts Senator Elizabeth Warren, who lead the pack of Democratic presidential candidates, in calling on the House to initiate impeachment proceedings against President Trump.
Then this weekend, New York Democrat Jerry Nadler– who chairs the House Judiciary Committee – noted that the report shows sufficient evidence of obstruction. During an appearance on NBC's “Meet the Press,” Nadler said Attorney General William Barr deliberately misled the American people when he interpreted the findings in the Mueller report that stated Trump would not be indicted on obstruction of justice charges.
As Nadler sees it, Mueller says although the investigation may show examples of obstruction of justice, but they're not going to indict him based on the Department of Justice's legal opinion that a sitting president cannot be indicted. Nadler adds that Barr misrepresented this as there being “no evidence” of obstruction.
