The bizarre case of Timmothy Pitzen – who hasn’t been seen since his mother took off with him in 2011 – he was just six. Fast forward to a few days ago…and suddenly his family had hope, as a young man turned up in Kentucky saying he was Timmothy.
The DNA is in, and officials say that “found person” is actually 23-year-old Brian Michael Rini. Rini, who is from Ohio, told police that he was Pitzen and that he'd been held captive for seven-years. He even described his alleged captors. But it’s all a lie – and Timmothy’s family is devastated. Still they remain hopeful.
“We know you are out there somewhere,” Timmothy’s aunt Kara Jacobs said to cameras. "Tim, and we will never stop looking for you, praying for you and loving you." And they’re also asking that the public pray for Rini – who has been described as having a lengthy criminal record as well as mental health issues. Jacobs added, “We hope that everyone will join us in praying for the young man who claimed to be Timmothy Pitzen.”
Following his abduction, Timmothy’s mother was found dead in a motel room after an apparent suicide. Officials say she left a note saying her son was safe and “would never be found.” Louisville Police say Pitzen's disappearance is still under investigation
