The Jussie Smollett Case Takes A Weird Turn

Now that Jussie Smollett has spoken his truth on Good Morning America, Chicago police have confirmed that they’re talking to two persons of interest in connection with the alleged attack on the “Empire” star. Multiple sources have told Chicago's ABC7 that police are looking into whether he and the two men staged the attack...because he’s about to be written off the show.

Even though the police are still treating Jussie as a victim, they’re trying to determine if the persons of interest committed the attack – or whether an attack happened at all. At this point, a police spokesperson released a statement saying, “Media reports [about] the ‘Empire’ incident being a hoax are unconfirmed by case detectives. Supt. Eddie Johnson has contacted ABC7 Chicago to state on the record that we have no evidence to support their reporting and their supposed CPD sources are uninformed and inaccurate.”

And for the record, the writers of the show confirmed that there are no plans to get rid of Jussie’s character. “He is the third lead and one of the most beloved characters on the show,” Danny Strong offered via Twitter. "Writing him off the show has NEVER even been discussed"
