Bonus Segment: NASA's Mars Rover Opportunity Is Dead

It’s the end of the mission for the Mars Rover, Opportunity. Project manager John Callas says it comes after more than a thousand attempts to contact the Rover were unsuccessful.

The solar-powered Rover hasn't communicated with Earth since June of last year when it got caught up in a giant dust storm on Mars. Callas noted Opportunity was originally intended to be a 90-day mission.

Opportunity and its twin Rover Spirit have sent back volumes of valuable information about Mars over the past 15 years. NASA still has one Rover currently roaming the Red Planet and plans to launch a new Rover mission to Mars in 2020.
