Megyn Kelly Apologizes For Blackface Comments

Megyn Kelly spent her morning eating humble pie. After Tuesday’s blackface debacle – where she defended its use – she came back yesterday with, “I want to begin with two words – I’m sorry.”

The former Fox host claimed that she didn’t know the history of blackface before yesterday and chalked up her ignorance to never having been “a PC kind of person.” She went on to say, “Sometimes I talk and sometimes I listen, and [Tuesday] I learned. I learned that, given the history of blackface being used in awful ways by racists in this country, it is not okay for this to be part of any costume, Halloween or otherwise.”

“This past year has been so painful for many people of color. The country feels so divided, and I have no wish to add to that pain and offense,” Megyn added.

Before Kelly’s hour, other NBC hosts weighed in on the controversy. Al Roker said that while she apologized to the staff, “She owes a bigger apology to folks of color around the country.” Craig Melvin wasn’t quite as nice. ‘She said something stupid. She said something indefensible,” he explained. “I think a lot of people knew about blackface before yesterday.”
