Amy Schumer may tell jokes for a living, but she’s not kidding around when it comes to politics. Her latest? She took to Instagram over the weekend challenging white NFL players to kneel in solidarity with Colin Kaepernick.
In the post, Schumer admits that taking a stand against the NFL is “very tough,” just like fighting against the NRA. But, it’s worth it to follow Kaepernick’s lead in making your political voice heard and taking action against injustice. “Why not kneel next to your brothers?” she wrote. “Otherwise, how are you not complicit?”
Explaining her stance against racism and police brutality, Schumer also revealed that she’s doing her part by opting out of doing any Super Bowl ads this year (though she also doesn't say if she was asked to do any). “I know it must sound like a privilege ass sacrifice but it’s all I got,” she added. “Hitting the NFL with the advertisers is the only way to really hurt them.”
