Man Dies After Attacking Restaurant Workers

An investigation continues into a bizarre incident at a popular restaurant on the Upper West Side.

An emotionally disturbed man was hiding in a freezer at Sarabeth’s Restaurant and then began attacking employees with a knife.  Employees were able to subdue the 54-year-old man.

"I want to know, how did he get in the freezer?  Was he there all night?" one woman asked WOR's Alice Stockton-Rossini.  "And why does he have something against Sarabeth?  Is he a former employee?"

The man then had some kind of medical episode.  He was pronounced dead at St. Luke’s Roosevelt Hospital.

"Strange.  Is this something from Alfred Hitchcock?" one man asked.

It’s unclear how the man got into the freezer or how long he was there for.

"It would have to be somebody from inside the place, no?" one man said.

The medical examiner will determine the cause of death.

"It definitely doesn't reflect on the place.  It's still New York City and very strange things happen occasionally," a man said.
