Former Mets star Mookie Wilson admits as a player, there are some games when you say “this is going to be a rough day.”
Wilson spoke to WOR’s “Len Berman and Michael Riedel in the Morning,” a day after the Mets suffered the worst defeat in franchise history, losing to the Washington Nationals 25 to 4.
“There are some games from the very first pitch you can tell that things are just not right,” Wilson said.
The Mets made a couple of trades before Tuesday’s trade deadline, but held onto starting pitchers Jacob deGrom, Noah Syndergaard and Zack Wheeler.
“I’ve learned that trades don’t always work and sometimes the best trades are the ones that you don’t make and you don’t always see that right away,” Wilson said.
