Former Mayor Michael Bloomberg says many of our nation’s leaders are attacking the truth, seeing it as a threat.
“The greatest threat to American democracy isn’t communism or jihadism, or any other external force or foreign power. It is our willingness to tolerate dishonesty in service of party and in pursuit of power,” Bloomberg said.
The former mayor spoke out against dishonesty during a commencement speech at Rice University in Texas over the weekend. He didn’t name anyone specifically during his speech.
“When elected officials speak as though they are above the truth, they will act as though they are above the law. And when we tolerate dishonesty, we get criminality,” Bloomberg said.
