Legendary Broadway actor Nathan Lane says he doesn’t think he’ll ever do another musical.
“Musicals are a young man’s game,” Lane told WOR’s “Len Berman and Michael Riedel in the Morning. “They’re so hard to get right and look, when it works it’s a glorious thing and I had a great run in musicals and I got to work with some of the best people.”
Lane said he’s now “exploring a whole other side of myself.”
That includes starring in “Angels in America,” which received 11 Tony nominations. That includes Best Revival of a Play and a nomination for Lane for Featured Actor, where he plays former Donald Trump lawyer Roy Cohn.
Lane says the role came after finding himself at a crossroads eight years ago where he felt a desire to take on more challenging parts.
“Playing Roy Cohn in this production of ‘Angels’ has been sort of the culmination of all that work,” Lane said.
