Jeff Daniels On Playing Atticus Finch In 'To Kill a Mockingbird'

Michael Riedel and Christine Nagy speak with 2019 Tony Award nominated actor Jeff Daniels on their Inside Broadway podcast about his portrayal of Atticus Finch in Aaron Sorkin's stage adaptation of Harper Lee's classic, To Kill a Mockingbird.

Daniels explains how the play has a different point of view than the movie and novel:

"The movie was just a different point of view. It's a young girl looking up but at the father like he's on Mount Rushmore and he was an ideal. This is more of an eye level, Celia plays Scout not only young but also looking back when she's I'm guessing late 20s or something... You get Atticus at eye level and if you're gonna do it you can either do Gregory Peck and what he did, but that wouldn't have worked here. We're coming in at a different angle."
