Last month at the NATO Summit in Ankara, Turkey great progress was made in the relationship between the United States and NATO with Donald Trump making peace with many of the other nations involved in the group. While attending however a threat was made on Trump’s life by Iran which led to an effort to sneak the President out of the region with a plan that seems to have come out of a movie. Jon Decker, WOR White House correspondent, spoke with Curtis Sliwa and Larry Mendte in the Morning about the situation.
“On the flight back the President put out a social media post indicating that he would not be taking the same plane that he arrived in, that new plane that was gifted to the United States by Qatar, instead he would be taking the old Air Force One back,” Decker told hosts Sliwa and Mendte. “As this story plays out that was not the case; there was still concern about some sort of an attack coming potentially from Iran.”
Decker explained how the President was able to reach safety amid the threats: “There was an effort that was successful to transfer the President from the plane that the press was traveling on, that Air Force One old plane, to a different plane entirely and that’s how the President got from Ankara, Turkey to the UK.”
