Former New York Congressman George Santos, 37, is in solitary confinement at FCI Fairton in New Jersey after receiving a death threat. Santos, who is serving a seven-year sentence for federal fraud charges, claims he was moved to solitary for his protection while the FBI investigates the threat.

In a letter to the South Shore Press, Santos described his cell as "extremely dirty," with a bed, toilet, sink, and a shower with ice-cold water. He criticized the conditions, calling the prison "hell on earth." According to Santos, he will remain in solitary for at least 30 days.

Santos, who began his prison term in July, pleaded guilty to wire fraud and identity theft, admitting to deceiving donors and stealing identities to fund his campaign. He hopes President Donald Trump will commute his sentence, though the White House has not indicated any plans to do so.

Prison officials have not commented on Santos' claims, citing privacy and security reasons. The FBI has also not provided additional information about the threat.
